Douglas- John R. Letourneau, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 16, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Arlene J. (Lapierre) Letourneau in 2017.
He is survived by 3 children John K. “Jay” Letourneau of Douglas, Bonnie J. O’Day of Douglas, and Robert W. Letourneau of Weymouth; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, William Letourneau and Paul Letourneau both of Grafton; a sister, Anne Putnam of Rutland. He was also predeceased by his daughter Joyce Hall and sister Yvette and his beloved dog Molly.
Born in Worcester on July 29, 1946 he was the son of William and Lucille (Girard) Letourneau and was raised in Grafton. He was educated from Grafton public schools and Worcester Boys Trade. Mr. Letourneau worked as a sheet metal fabricator for many years working for Norton’s in Worcester several years and also City Welding in Worcester for 10 years before his retirement in 2016. Previously he worked at Bay State Abrasives.
John enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, and often reminisced about camping in the White Mountains in his younger years. He took pride in working hard and enjoyed his job, values he instilled on his children. He was a selfless man, and had excellent morals and always put family first. He was kind and charitable and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed a hand. He was a member of St. Denis Church.
His funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, June 19th at 11 a.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
