Douglas- John F. “Jack” Greene, 95, of Wallis St., passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Advinia Care in Northbridge after a period of declining health.
He is survived by his two daughters Lisa McDonald and her husband Dave of Manchaug, and Lori Greene and her partner Eric Weitzel of North Port, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Barbara E. Lavallee, Catherine Turiano, Robert A. Greene, Richard F. Greene, and Alfred F. Greene, who passed away when he was 4 years old. His companion of 23 years and love of his life, Jacqueline Silverstein, died in 2022 and his former wife, Gloria (Leveille) also died in 2022.
Born in Uxbridge on March 26, 1931, he was the son of Alfred A. Sr. and Margaret (Tracy) Greene and lived in Douglas 27 years. He lived in Whitinsville for at least 20 years and was a member of the Northbridge Conservation Commission.
Mr. Greene worked as a repairman for the Bell Telephone Co., which later became AT&T. He was employed for 35 years eventually becoming the head lineman. Previously, he worked for General Motors in Framingham several years. He was an Uxbridge High School graduate, class of 1950. He then enlisted
in the U.S. Air Force serving as a MP, in Saudi Arabia.
Jack was a longtime parishioner of St. Denis Church, where he passed the collection basket and opened the church early in the mornings. A member of Mumford Council 365 Knights of Columbus, he had many good times performing in their Knights and Maids Group with friends. He enjoyed golfing, travelling with Jackie, and trips to visit his daughter Lori in Florida, where they would attend Native American Pow-wows each year and visit the dog track.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and took many angling trips to Canada, and also visited Alaska. A self-taught artist, he
painted many beautiful works of art, many of which were dispersed to family and friends, and belonged to the Blackstone Valley Art Association. He also belonged to the Greendale Men’s Retirement Club.
In his later years he looked forward to meeting friends for coffee in the mornings, and for fish and chips on Fridays. He loved his quiet home in Douglas where he would grow tomatoes and feed the birds, and was fastidious about his yard for as long as he could.
Following cremation, Jack’s Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 1st at 11 AM in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas, with a luncheon to follow.
