Blackstone- James T. Vargas, 47, of Champlain St. passed away Sat. Sept. 30, 2023 at UMass in Worcester after being stricken ill 5 weeks ago.

     He is survived by his daughter Anya Vargas of Turo; his fiancé Melissa J. LaMoore and her daughter Kattie Quinn with whom he lived; 4 brothers Paul Vargas and his wife Jackie of Millville, John Vargas of Millville, Jose David Vargas and his wife Virgen in NY, and Victor Vargas and his wife Zulma in FL; 5 sisters Ana Vargas in CT, Elizabeth Vargas in CT, Martha Ruiz of CT, Jackee Vargas of Chicago, and Jasmine Vargas of Boston; his aunts Judie Miles and her husband Al of Blackstone and Joanne Davis of Millville, and Janice Davis of Blackstone; his godchild Brianna Machado and her wife Erica of FL, niece Sara Vargas of Millville; nephew John Vargas Jr. of Woonsocket; his in-laws Patricia Boudreau, Michelle LaMoore, Dan LaMoore and his wife Anissa and family, Eddie LaMoore, Patty LaMoore and family, Joe LaMoore and his wife Leanne of Newport, and Michelle Boucher; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Muniz, Ruth Diaz, niece Matilde Diaz, and uncles John Davis Sr., and Paul Davis. 

     Born in Bedford, PA on May 23, 1976, James was son of the late Rev. Jose and Priscilla “Pastor Pat” (Davis) Vargas and was raised in Milford. He lived in Blackstone the past year and a half, previously living in Millville. He was a graduate of Blackstone Valley Technical High School, Class of 1995.

     Mr. Vargas worked as the head diesel mechanic and fabricator for Wind River Environmental Co. in Sterling for 22 years. He was proud and excited about his recent promotion to Fleet Manager. Hard working, creative, and talented he could take apart and fix anything, including computers. He enjoyed the Patriots, bow hunting, fishing, music, and playing his guitar and keyboard. He was in the process of teaching “his girls” the guitar.

     James cherished his entire family. They always came first. He thrived on sarcasm and humor, was fun to be around, and often was larger than life. He loved going out to breakfast, and prime rib dinners with Melissa. Proud, humble, and hardworking, James loved everyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

     A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 20th at the Millville Polish American Citizen's Club on 37 Ironstone Street, Millville, MA from 6-12 in the evening.  All friends and family are welcome to come share memories of James.
