Northbridge – James K. Brooks, 85, of Spring Hill Ave., passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pamela L. (Kaminski) Brooks.
He is also survived by 3 children, James K. Brooks II of Savannah, GA, John E. Brooks, and his wife Jiaqin of Northbridge, Robert Brooks, and his wife Linda of Savannah, GA; 3 step-children, Melissa Lesley and her husband Robert Briggs of Northbridge, Nicholas Farrand of Northbridge, and Jennifer Sanderson and her husband Sean of Worcester; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; 4 siblings, David, Brooks of Northbridge, Margaret Rozak and her husband Stanley of Franklin, Richard Brooks and his wife Paulette of Northbridge, and Mary Adams and her husband Richard of Spencer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Northbridge on April 13, 1938. He was 1 of 12 born to Joseph H. Brooks Sr. and Rose Eva (Lucier) Brooks. He was predeceased by 7 siblings, Edward, Joseph, and Wayne Brooks, and Nancy Haggerty Anne Leger, Arlene Rice, and Judith Rocheleau. He was educated from the Northbridge public schools before proudly joining the U.S Navy in 1955. He served during the Vietnam war era and was honorably discharged in 1959. A true Patriot, James joined the Army National Guard in Whitinsville in 1979. He worked for many years for Felters Corp. in Millbury then later for Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge as a custodian and a patient driver.
James enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and tending to his gardens, both vegetable and flower. He was a former member of the American Legion, Rockdale Rod and Gun Club, and was a long-time member of Saint Peter’s Church in Rockdale. He was a loving husband, a great father, and a proud grandfather. He will be remembered as a very nice man who was very social, selfless, and kind hearted.
