Whitinsville- James H. “Bedis” Belanger, 73, of Forest St., passed away on Mon. Aug. 30th at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital after being stricken ill. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherry A. (Conn) Belanger.

         He is also survived by 2 children, Terry A. Oldfield and her husband John of Northbridge, and Cindy L. Bosselman and her husband Michael of Clinton; 4 grandchildren, Arielle Andre, Hunter Belanger, Madyson Christian, and Owen Christian; 7 great- grandchildren, and one on the way; 2 sisters, Gail A. Dion and her husband Al of Whitinsville, and Elaine M. Massey and her husband James of Northbridge; his in-laws, Joyce Maffett of Toronto, OH, Susan and Robert Latimore of Uxbridge, and Cindy and Jeffrey Lussier of Northbridge, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by his son, Gary J. Belanger in 2017 and brother-in-law Samuel Maffett in 2017.

         Born in Northbridge, MA on May 4, 1948 he was son of the late Henry A. and Bernice (Campo) Belanger Benoit and lived in Northbridge all his life. He was a graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1966 where he played football and ran track. Jim worked over 35 years as an Envelope Adjuster for New England Envelope in Worcester. He then was employed at Classic Envelopes / Supreme X in Douglas many years until his retirement in 2016. He continued working there part-time until his death. 

Jim loved spending time with his family and his friends- most of whom were like family to him. He would always greet you with a smile and a joke. He loved  “The Ranch” in Webster where he and Sherry camped for the past 14 years. The friends he made there were his “ranch family”. Always competitive he enjoyed playing pitch and poker, horseshoes, golfing, and visiting the beach. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a longtime member of the Oliver Ashton American Legion.

         Jimmy’s Celebration of life will be held on Sat. Sept. 4th from 12-3 PM at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville. A service of remembrance will take place at 3PM. Private burial will take place later in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.
