Uxbridge- Irene K. (Gniadek) Picard, 94, a lifelong Uxbridge resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 after a period of declining health, at Beaumont Nurising & Rehab. of Westborough, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Ernest O. Picard, on December, 9, 2011.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late John Gniadek, Pauline Roche, Henry Gniadek, and Maryann Auger.
Born in Uxbridge on November 20, 1931, she was the daughter of John F. and Stella (Rak) Gniadek and was educated in the Uxbridge Public School system. Irene was employed for many years with New England Electric in Westborough until her retirement.
Mrs. Picard enjoyed gardening and taking pride in caring for her yard, as well as cooking and baking, often trying new recipes. She also enjoyed her daily black coffee. In her younger years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and skiing together. She cherished her nieces and nephews and greatly treasured the time she spent with them.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Parish, she was actively involved in the parish’s bereavement ministry. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to others.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 18th, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Parish, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Parish or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
