e-Helen (Rice) Duffy, 90, formerly of 99 E. Hartford Ave, passed awayTues. Feb. 10 at St. Camillus Health Care Ctr. where she has resided the past 9 months. She is survived by a brother Peter E. Rice and his wife Mary Rice of Uxbridge; a brother in-law Peter Frabotta, sister in-law Mary Duffy of Worcester; dear cousin Una Rice of Uxbridge; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Helen was predeceased by her husband Donald J. Duffy in 1996; a daughter Christine in 1967; 2 brothers Charles A. Rice and Leo M. Rice and a sister Barbara Frabotta. Born in Milford on Nov. 5, 1924, she was daughter of Peter E. and Katherine (Tynan) Rice. She graduated from Uxbridge High School and Boston University College of Practical Arts and Letters. Helen worked in customer service for Stark, Johnson and Stinson in Worcester, retiring in 1992. Previously she was associated with the former William Q. Forde adjustment services in Worcester for 20 years.
Helen belonged to many organizations including the Worcester Business Professional Women’s Club, St. Vincent Hospital as a volunteer for over 25 years, the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, and was a founding member of the Uxbridge Elderly Connection, Inc., a fund raising group for the Uxbridge Senior Center and served as secretary for many years. Helen was a member of St. Mary’s church in Uxbridge and a member of its Morning Start Ministry.
Her funeral will be held from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Fri. Feb. 13 with a Mass at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will be at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Fri. Feb. 13 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Camillus for their outstanding compassion and care.
