Heidi Alicia (Barber) Austin

Uxbridge- Heidi Alicia (Barber) Austin beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away on February 20th after a 15-year battle with early onset dementia, at the age of 67.
       As a devoted wife to Bradley Austin, a loving mother to her daughter Alicia (Austin) Dickman, and grandmother to Heidi and Josephine, she leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith.

 Born the sixth child of Dr. Paul Barber and Josephine (Gregoire) Barber, Heidi grew up in West Warwick, Rhode Island with her siblings: Deborah, Gregory, John, Paul, Claudia, Kim, and Jill. Though she is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Deborah, her memory will be cherished by her surviving siblings and her many nieces and nephews.

       A graduate of Bryant University and Johnson & Wales University, Heidi was a teacher in the Mendon-Upton and Grafton public school systems for more than two decades. She was an avid golfer and New England Patriots fan.

       Though she may be gone, Heidi's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

       Her funeral mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 AM. Calling hours at Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Heidi’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452, to support research and care for those affected by dementia.
