Gloria Greene Obituary

Northbridge- Gloria Ann (Leveille) Greene, 83, passed away at Milford Regional Med Center on Wed. Aug. 24, 2022 after a very long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Lisa McDonald and her husband David, of Manchaug, and Lori Greene and her husband Eric Weitzel, of North Port FL; her sister Diane Barbre, and her former husband John “Jack” Greene of Douglas. Born on Nov. 26, 1938 in Woonsocket, RI to the late Henry and Georgette (Monty) Leveille, she moved to Northbridge as a teenager and has been a resident ever since.
Gloria worked as a waitress at many area restaurants. She was also an amazing seamstress, sewing many of her daughter’s outfits when they were young. She made alterations for many people out of her home (The Sewing Room), and also for Varky’s Cleaners. She loved meeting people that way. Although she always wanted to attend art school, she was very creative, and all her talents were self-taught. Gloria also loved visiting the beach, and often staying longer than her children wanted!
Gloria had a great love of nature. She loved her house, built by her father, and grew beautiful houseplants and was most happy when working in her garden or on a project. She was an avid collector of all things beautiful, broken, interesting, or cute. An animal enthusiast, she loved all animals and always donated generously to their causes. She had many wonderful cats of her own over the years and loved them dearly. One of her greatest memories was rescuing an injured owl in her yard which she brought to Tufts and was able to release in her yard after its rehabilitation. Gloria loved going to yard and estate sales, looking for “treasures”. She and her daughter Lisa also operated a booth at Bernat Antiques where she so enjoyed talking to people who were browsing.

A prolific reader, she often took out as many as a dozen books at a time from her beloved Whitinsville Library. Her family would like to thank the caring staff at Dana Farber in Milford and the staff at Milford Hospital.
Her memorial calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville will be held Fri. Sept. 2 from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gloria’s memory to any animal shelter or rescue group. To leave a condolence message for her family please visit www.jackmanfuneralhomes.com
