Northbridge – Gerald J. “Jerry” Clark, 78, of 254 Highland St., passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, after a period of declining health. His family was by his side as he passed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol A. (Stanick) Clark. He also leaves two sons: Matthew S. Clark and his wife Misty, of Whitinsville and Brian M. Clark and his wife Kelly of Thompson, CT.; four grandchildren; Sam, Ben, Natalie and Gavin, many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, William and Gertrude (Smith) Clark, and three older brothers: Albert, William, and Richard Clark. He was born in 1944 in Pawtucket, RI., and graduated from Tollman High School in 1962. He studied culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University where he learned his love for cooking.
Jerry worked professionally as a sheet metal fabricator and job estimator for several local area businesses. After working hard for 42 years, he retired in 2006 at the age of 62. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, wildlife, or anything that brought him into nature. He was a longtime member of the Douglas Fish and Game Club and the Rockdale Rod and Gun Club, serving as their Treasurer for 40+ years. He took pride in his annual game feeds where his love of cooking was on full display. He was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending the races in Thompson, CT., and Louden, NH., often with his sons and grandchildren.
Christmas was a special time for Jerry. He transformed into the best and happiest Santa around, giving much of his time to local children, families and charity events. Not a Christmas season went by when the phone did not ring with requests for his Santa magic.
He will be lovingly remembered as a kind gentleman (with a dry sense of humor and Jerry smirk) willing to help anyone. He loved bringing everyone together, being surrounded by his family, especially around his famous Sunday dinners.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 6:30 PM at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville. Calling hours are prior to his service from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
