Oxford-Frank William Zayonc, 70, formerly of Northbridge, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 after being stricken ill at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge.
He leaves a brother Joseph and his wife Diane Zayonc of Northbridge, as well as several cousins and many great friends. He was predeceased by his mother Frances (Yocus) Zayonc in 2004, Father Frank J. Zayonc in 1995, and life partner of 28 years, Sandra B. Johnson in 2019.
Born in Worcester on December 15, 1954 Frank grew up in the Plummers Corner section of Whitinsville, MA. Frank graduated from Northbridge High School in 1972 and from Framingham State College in 1976, with a degree in geography and a minor in secondary education. He worked as an aide at Wilson Jr. High School in Natick for 2 years. Frank then embarked on a sales career in newspapers, map sales, and the multi-family housing industry. He also worked as a waiter and bartender in various restaurants for 15 years.
Frank played in numerous softball, basketball, and volleyball leagues over the years. Then later in life, he excelled at horseshoes until he had cancer surgery in 2013. After that, he worked in retail around the Oxford area until his retirement in 2020. Frank was an officer in the Sons of American Legion Post 58 in Oxford MA, where he enjoyed and excelled in playing trivia.
His funeral service will be held from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville on Thursday, February 13th at 6 PM. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held prior from 4-6 PM.
