Frances M. (Gonsorcik) Jolda

Douglas- Frances M. (Gonsorcik) Jolda, of Franklin Street, passed away on Monday, November 14th 2022. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Florian J. Jolda in 2004.
        She is survived by her son Robert Jolda of Douglas, her two daughters Mary Jane Crawford and her husband John of Essex Fells, NJ and Debra Gregg and her husband Kelly Gregg of Sandwich, MA. Her grandchildren Kyle, Danielle and Kristen and great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her three brothers, Joseph Gonsorcik of Millbury, John Gonsorcik of Linwood, and Andrew Gonsorcik of Phoenix, AZ

       Born in Douglas on June 16, 1928 she is the daughter of Joseph F. and Mary B. (Bombara) Gonsorcik and has been a lifelong resident of Douglas. She was educated in the Douglas public school system. She worked at Whitin Machine Works, Douglas Elementary and High School Cafeteria.  After she retired at 65 from the school system, she became the office administrator for the Douglas Senior Center until she was 85.               

      She was very involved with the Saint Denis Catholic Women’s Council, where she sat on various board positions.  She also loved to travel on local New England bus trips, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Canada and Hawaii. Her favorite past times were spending time with her friends at the senior center playing bingo. She also enjoyed polka dancing, reading, going to the casino, doing all different types of puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. Her greatest love was spending time with her family

      Her funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 18th at 10AM in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug Street,  Douglas. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. Calling hours from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas will be held on Thurs., Nov. 17th from 3-7 PM.
