Uxbridge — Frances M. (Merolli) Gniadek, 98, formerly of Garden Street, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home in Venice, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph S. Gniadek Sr., who passed away on July 24, 1999.
She is survived by her four grandchildren: Sherri Gregoire and her husband Donald of Venice, Florida, with whom she resided; Eric Mason and his husband Messias Pedro Jr. of Bristol, Rhode Island; Taurie Flood and her husband John of Blackstone; and Melissa Oikle and her husband Phil of Sutton. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, DJ, Dylan, Dawson, Brie, Olivia, Jack, Vianna, Rory, and Trevor; her sister, Barbara M. Anderson of North Smithfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph S. Gniadek Jr., who passed away on July 10, 2021, and by her siblings Marietta A. Carles, Viola M. Gifford, Louis Merolli, and Albert Merolli.
Born in Uxbridge on October 27, 1927, Frances was the daughter of Luigi “Louis” and Christina M. (Cimini) Merolli. She lived in Uxbridge for most of her life before moving to Florida to live with her granddaughter Sherri, where she resided for the past 10 years. She was educated in the Uxbridge Public School System and was a graduate of Uxbridge High School.
Frances worked for many years as a spinner at the Robin Rug Factory in Bristol, Rhode Island. Following her retirement, she took great joy in helping raise her great-grandchildren. She loved living in Florida, spending time outdoors, relaxing in the sun, dining out, and especially cherished time spent with her family. She delighted in playing games with her great-grandchildren and even played wiffleball well into her 80s.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road, Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
