Northbridge- Evelyn P. (Spilski) Kuras, 90, of Quaker St., passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Her husband of 19 years, Frederick J. Kuras died August 1, 1980 at only 49 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan A. Danis, and her husband Edward of Uxbridge; her son, Mark F. Kuras and his wife Sheila of Uxbridge; two grandchildren, Matthew E. Danis of Uxbridge, and Samuel R. Danis and his wife Olivia of Upton; her sister, Wanda A. Spilski of Hopedale; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and was a great-great aunt to seven. She also leaves many good friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Spilski, and Francis Spilski, who died as an infant.
Born in Worcester on February 4, 1936, Evelyn was the daughter of Frank B. and Helen C. (Bien) Spilski and was raised in the Prospect Heights section of Milford. A graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1954, she was a resident of Northbridge for 62 years.
Mrs. Kuras served as the Rectory Administrator for St. Patrick’s Church in Whitinsville for 17 years. Earlier in her career, she worked in the Accounting Department at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale, and during her high school years, she was employed at Gene’s Catering in Milford, where she worked at the ice cream counter.
A longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she was involved in both the Bereavement Ministry and the Fall Festival Committee. Evelyn remained engaged with her community throughout her life, keeping up with local news through her constant contact with family and friends. She dedicated many years to serving as a poll worker for Northbridge elections.
She enjoyed knitting, and was a member of a weekly knitting group. Items she made were always given away. Family was the fabric of her life. Other interests included quilting, sewing, crocheting, and baking. An avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, Evelyn also liked watching golf. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and held a deep love for her children, grandchildren, sister, and friends.
Her Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville, will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 11 am. Burial will be private in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville, will be held prior to Mass from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
