Eugene R Tancrell

Northbridge- Eugene R. Tancrell, 89, of Prescott Rd, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 22, 2024 after being stricken ill. He is predeceased by his wife Frances J. “Fran” (Leduc) Tancrell on September 9, 2021.
     He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Tancrell of Cummington, MA, and James A. Tancrell and his wife Stephanie of Midway, UT; 3 grandchildren, Zachariah D. Tancrell, Esther M. Tancrell, and Tobias A. Tancrell. Born in Uxbridge, MA on March 2, 1935 he was the only child born to Albert and Eva Tancrell, and was raised in Uxbridge. He has been a  Whitinsville resident the past 57 years. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School class of 1952 and soon after enlisted in the service. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in France. He was a well decorated marksman and received many awards for his precision shooting skills.

     Mr. Tancrell worked for New England Telephone his entire career, totaling over 40 years of employment. He was a skilled carpenter making beautiful toy chests and furniture as well as other home goods and welcome signs. He and his wife enjoyed working together making gifts for family and friends and also sold some of their pieces at local consignment shops. A talented hobbyist, Gene also was a model train crafter. He had built whole villages over the years with detailed instructions on how he made them. He was a member of Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club, a lifetime member of the NRA,  and longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Whitinsville. He was a great husband, father, and adoring grandfather. He will be sorely missed.      

     His funeral Service will be held on Tues. Aug. 27th  at 10:30 AM in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30- 10:30 AM.
