Eugene De Jordy Obituary


Douglas- Eugene M. De Jordy, 91, of Uxbridge, former longtime resident of Douglas, passed away peacefully at his home on November 13, 2022 surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Irene C. (Marteka) DeJordy who died in May of 2021.

       Gene leaves his four children Terri Larrabee and her husband John, Gene and his wife Jamie, Tom and his wife Maria, and Steve and his wife Heather. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Jessica and baby Miles, Katherine and husband Peter, and Michael Larrabee; Dakota, Keean and Kaitlyn DeJordy; Alexander, Jack, Benjamin and Thomas DeJordy; Hannah, Stephen, Tyler De Jordy and his partner Hannah and their children Sadie and newborn Cody. He also leaves a sister, Louise DeJordy of W. Brookfield; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Robert, Joseph and Paul DeJordy; and sisters Anita Stanick, Doris DeJordy, and Cecile Carter.

       Born in Springfield, MA on Dec. 21, 1930, Gene was the son of Wilfred and Delvina (Valcourt) DeJordy. He grew up in Douglas and it was there where he brought up his family. He was a man of great faith and a longtime parishioner of St. Denis Church. Gene worked as a data processing supervisor for the College of the Holy Cross for 25 years. He previously worked for the former E. Rosen Candy Co., and the Whitin Machine Works where he enjoyed many years playing baseball in the shop league. He was a proud veteran of the U.S Air Force Korean Conflict. Gene was the ultimate handyman who helped and directed his family’s many building projects. Gene is deeply adored by his family who will forever miss his warm guidance, calm presence, and great sense of humor.  

     His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Salmon VNA Hospice for their outstanding care and support shown to Gene during his illness.

Eugene’s Funeral Mass will be held in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Thurs. November 17th at 11 AM. Calling hours will be held prior to the mass from 9:30–10:30 AM in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Memorial donations in Eugene’s memory may be made to: St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas, MA 01516.
