Douglas- Elaine M. (Senecal) Dunleavy, 78, formerly of Gilboa St., Douglas and Webster passed away Wednesday May 1, 2024 at Lydia Taft House after an illness. Her husband of 53 years Daniel W. Dunleavy died March 18, 2018.
She is survived by her daughter Karen M. Kaminski and her husband Mark of Augusta, ME; 2 sons Daniel W. Dunleavy Jr., and Mark W. Dunleavy and his wife Debra both of Douglas; 7 grandchildren Nicholas and his wife Jessica, Alexandra, Evan, Cassidy, Mitchell, Olivia, and Deanna; 2 great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Logan; 2 brothers, Albert C. Senecal and his companion Roseanna Green, and Ronald A. Senecal and his wife Eleanor; and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Yvette LaVergne, and sister-in-law Mary Ursula Jones.
Born in Northbridge on Sept. 27, 1945 she was the daughter of Albert A. and Rose A. (John) Senecal and previously lived in Webster and Douglas. Mrs. Dunleavy was primarily a homemaker, caring for her husband and raising her children. She worked for the Alternatives Adult Learning Center in Douglas, Woodbury Stationary Company and Lindberg Gear Company in Worcester. She also worked at the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for several years.
Elaine was a longtime member of St. Denis Church and their Catholic Women’s Council. She was a scorekeeper at the Douglas Little League, a Boy Scout Den Mother and enjoyed knitting and spending summers in Narragansett. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
