Whitinsville- Eileen M. (McCann) Powers, 91, passed away on Mon. June 14, 2021 at UMass Memorial peacefully with her loving children at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Paul E. Powers in 2006.
She is survived by her 2 loving children Nancy A. Powers with whom she lived, and Thomas P. Powers and his fiancee’ Kelley Urella both of Whitinsville; a sister, Norma E. Nelson of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Powers of Millbury, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother George T. McCann Jr. and her sister Ruth M. Gile. Born in Whitinsville on Feb. 15, 1930 she was the daughter of George T. Sr. and Mary T. (Hayes) McCann and grew up and lived in Whitinsville all her life.
Eileen was a graduate of Northbridge High School class of 1946 and continued her education gaining her Associate’s degree from Becker College in Worcester. She worked for 30 years as Administrative Assistant to the town of Northbridge, retiring in 2000. She was a talented oil painter, who also enjoyed vacationing in Ogunquit, ME, and in her younger days ballroom dancing with her husband. She was an amazing mother who loved spending time with her family. She was always thoughtful, caring, and always made sure everyone was okay. She had the best laugh that was truly unforgettable.
Her funeral will be held on Fri. June 18th with a mass at 11am in St. Patrick’s church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville will be held on Thurs. June 17, from 5-7 pm. An additional hour will be held on Friday prior to mass from 9:30- 10:30 am.
