Uxbridge- Eileen A. Gorman, 82, formerly of East Hartford Ave., passed away on Sun., March 20, 2022 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester after an illness.
She is survived by 5 nieces and nephews, Patricia Hamelin and her husband Michael of Uxbridge, John Gorman and his wife Elaine of Whitinsville, Kathleen Szerlag and her husband Martin of Northbridge, Betsy Salmonsen and her husband Lance of Douglas, and Denis Gorman and his wife Maria of Douglas, as well as many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many good friends. She was predeceased by her 3 siblings, James J. Gorman, Evelyn E. Gorman, and Edward A. Gorman.
Born in Whitinsville on May 24, 1939, she was the daughter of John J. and Daria (Boyer) Gorman and lived on East Hartford Ave in Uxbridge for 73 years. She was educated from Good Shepherd School in Linwood, and graduated from Uxbridge High School class of 1957. She furthered her education at Anna Maria College and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Assumption College in 1964. She worked many years as a Teacher for the Worcester Public School System, teaching both Spanish and French.
She was a member of the Mass Teachers Assoc., the National Education Assoc., the Uxbridge School Committee, and the Our Lady of the Valley School Board. She was also active in Tri-River Medical Center’s, Patient Family Advisory Council for many years. A woman of great faith, Eileen was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Church and was very active in the parish. She was a fun-loving and cheerful woman, who always enjoyed getting the family together. Eileen was an avid golfer, who also loved travelling, especially cruises. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 25th at 11 AM in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St., Linwood. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours at Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge will be held on Thurs. March 24th from 5-7 PM.
