North Uxbridge - Edward J. “Sonny” Gouin, 94, of Yale St. passed away peacefully on Tues. May 17, 2022 after an illness. His wife of 71 years Lena M. (Furno) Gouin died May 1, 2019.
        He is survived by his 3 children James E. and his wife Lorene Gouin of Webster, Kenneth J. “Moose” Gouin of N. Uxbridge, and Patricia A. Daley of Broomfield, CO; 8 grandchildren Christine Ozolins, Jaime Gouin, Jonathan Gouin, Jenna Gouin, Jessica Driscoll, Patty Devlin, Erika Pruchnik, and Allison Daley; 4 great-grandchildren J.J., Camryn, Leah, and Joelle; a sister-in-law Sophie Bombara; and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late William, Howard, and Louis Gouin, Mary Burroughs and Florence Goulet. He was also predeceased by a son-in-law Timothy Daley.

        Born in North Uxbridge, MA on Dec 10, 1927, he was the son of Albert and Mary (Brouillette) Gouin and lived here all his life. Mr. Gouin worked as a supervisor for Anglo Fabric in Webster for 10 years, retiring in 1994. Previously he worked at the Hayward Schuster Woolen Mill and the Stanley Woolen Mill many years. He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and a member of the Charles A. Rice American Legion, and VFW Post 1385 both in Uxbridge. He belonged to the Southern Worcester County Police Association, the Uxbridge Democratic Town Committee, the Uxbridge Assessors and Conservation Committees and the Friends of Uxbridge Elders. He also volunteered at Milford Hospital, and St. Camillus Nursing Home. A longtime member of Good Shepherd Church, Sonny served as a Eucharistic Minister and visited the elderly to bring Communion. He was social, well known, and very caring. His family meant everything to him. Sonny will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
        His funeral will be held Sat. May 21 from Tancrell Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. with a Mass at 10 am in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St. Linwood. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Fri. May 20 from 6 to 8 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to the Uxbridge Senior Center, 36 S. Main St. Uxbridge, MA 01569.
