Earnestine “Tina” (Robinson) Clegg, 81, of Douglas, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She fought the good fight for 11long and painful years in her recovery process from radical sarcoma cancer surgery in 2012. Tina bravely took every day one at a time, she was the strongest and most honest person I've ever known, said by her long time life partner Dan Dudley.
Tina was born in Loranger, Louisiana on August 10, 1942, she was daughter of the late Preston Sr. and Sarah (Dawson) Robinson. She lived in Douglas, Massachusetts since 1990 with her Life Partner Dan Dudley.
Tina owned and operated the retail store Genesis, first in Worcester, later moving to Whitinsville for a total of 10 years in business. After the Genesis retail store closed she opened three booths at the Antiques Marketplace (a group antique and collectibles shop in Putnam CT). Tina's hand crafted items are still on display there with her life partner continuing with the business.
Tina also previously co-owned a portrait business with her late husband (accomplished portrait artist Clint (Clinton Avgvs Clegg)). Together with their daughter Karen they traveled all over the country in their motor home with Clint's main annual engagement being the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show where he drew portraits for some of the biggest country and western performers of the day. Tina moved to New York City in 1962 after graduating from Greenville Park High School in Hammond, Louisiana. She was proud of her first job at the luxury department store Bonwit Teller located on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Raised on her parent's farm in Loranger, Louisiana, she was a hard worker feeding the chickens and other animals before school every day with more farm work to do after getting home. Tina enjoyed landscaping her yard in Douglas, planting flowers, buying and selling antiques, crafting, and fishing. She also loved traveling, especially her annual trip to Acadia National Park with her life partner Dan and attending the yearly Baltimore Antique Arms Show in Maryland.
She loved her family and always tried to be a peacekeeper, Tina was a very loving and caring person (said by her sister Shirley).
Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Preston Sr. and Sarah Robinson; two brothers, Preston Robinson Jr, and Nathan Robinson, and three sisters, Mattie Robinson, Lydia Alexander, Selena Mae Curry and her husband Clinton Clegg.
She leaves to cherish her memory, life partner Dan E. Dudley; her daughter Karen Clegg-Hurst of Douglas MA, a grandson Christopher DeSanctis of Milford, MA, one brother, Isaac Robinson (Katrina) of Hammond, Louisiana, and two sisters, Emma Toefield of Independence, Louisiana, and Shirley Malone (John) of Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Memorial calling hours will be held Sat. Oct. 28 from 5 to 8 pm in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas with a Service to be held at 6pm in the funeral home.
