Whitinsville- Dorothy Violet Marie (Larochelle) Lyons, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 18, 2023.
She leaves behind her husband William P. Lyons with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. She also leaves her daughters, Kelly Lyons- Spero and her husband Steven of Worcester, and Terry Houatchanthara and her husband Ponce of Whitinsville; 4 grandchildren, Evan Lyons and his wife Emily, Nicole Putnam, Grant Houatchanthara and Haden Houatchanthara; 5 great- grandchildren, Mia, Evan, Sam, Kitty and Cece to whom she was affectionately known to as “Mumsy”.
Dot was born in Whitinsville on December 19, 1942 to William and Lillian (Beauregard) Larochelle and remained a resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Northbridge High School in 1960, and later attended secretarial school. She worked many years for Whitin Machine Works in town, also State Mutual Ins., and Friendly’s Discount liquors. Her favorite job was waitressing for her daughter’s business the Beanery Café in Grafton. She was a devoted wife, amazing mother, and grandmother who was happiest just spending time with her family. A music lover, Dot had great taste in music and could always come up with a great song to play. Two of her favorite songs are “Bittersweet” by Big Head Todd and the Monsters and “Sedona” by Houndmouth. She was and will always be loved deeply by her family and friends. “Forever in our Hearts”.
Dorothy’s funeral service will be held in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville on Sat. Aug. 19th at 3 PM. Her calling hours will be held prior to her service from 1-3 PM.
