Douglas - Donald P. Gogolinski, 83, of Douglas and formely of Sutton, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Umass Medical Center, Worcester. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Carol Hutnak Gogolinski; their daughter, Susan Gogolinski Cogley & husband William of Whitinsville; their son Steven Gogolinski and wife Lisa (Deluca) with grandsons Curtis, Jacob and Thomas of Whitinsville; his brother John Gogolinski and wife Jane of Webster; and his brother-in-law Thomas Hutnak of Douglas.
Donald was born in Webster, son of the late John & Josephine (Bielik) Gogolinski. He graduated from the Bartlett High School, Class of 1951.
Don was a shoe designer at Bates Shoe in Webster, Massachusetts. He later worked as a Purchasing Agent for Whitin Machine Works / ATF Davidson in Whitinsville. He worked for the Modular Home Division of Hutnak Construction Company, Inc. prior to retirement in 1995.He was a fan of Polka music and dancing and enjoyed the annual St. Joseph Polish festivals in Webster.
Don enjoyed bass fishing with his brother John and friend Ed Racicot at Webster Lake and pike fishing on the ice at Lake Champlain. He was know as the top angler of the Whitin Reservoir by his morning coffee buddies at the Goodness Store in Douglas. He taught many of his tips to his grandsons and also showed them the hot fishing spots of “The Rez”. He looked forward to annual Memorial Day fishing weekend at Whitin Reservoir with his friend Rick Ofcarcik where they could “catch and release” over 100 bass. A passionate New England Patriots fan, Don never missed watching a game on television. He never missed watching his nightly sports shows on Comcast and the various Patriots weekly television shows. Don was always proud of his manicured lawn and healthy garden. As he got older, healways counted on his good friend Ross Church to help get all his lawn and garden engines in top running shape.
His funeral will be held Thurs. May 25, 2017 from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. with a Mass at 10 am in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Uxbridge will be at a later date.
