Uxbridge- Donald A. Danforth Sr., 79, of W. Hartford Ave., N. Uxbridge died Tues. Nov. 6 at home after a long illness. He is survived by his 5 sons, David A. Danforth, Donald A. Danforth Jr., James A. Danforth all of Uxbridge, Dean A. Danforth of Millbury, and Stephen P. Danforth of La Grange, ME; 3 daughters Elizabeth P. Lamontagne of Uxbridge with whom he lived, Ann M. Grondin of Douglas, Linda J. Vensel of Uxbridge; 42 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Elsie Ballentine and Ellen Beals both of VT, and a brother Russell Danforth of Leominster. He is predeceased by his wife of 47 years Dorothy A. (Avenengo) Danforth who died on Dec. 13, 2004, a son Duane A. Danforth who died on Oct. 14, 2003, twin daughters who died at birth in 1960, 4 brothers, Harold, Robert, Richard, and William Danforth.
Born in New London, NH on Sept. 10, 1933 he was the son of Kenneth and Pearl (Wescott) Danforth and lived in Uxbridge for the passed several years. He was educated in the Springfield, VT school system and worked as a truck driver for an oil company before his retirement in 1992. Donald loved his family and watching his grand and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Red Sox fan.
His funeral service will be held on Fri. Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in New Hope Baptist Church, 64 Central St., Millville. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
