Obituary

Uxbridge- Denise R. (Lavalley) Berthelette, 65, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, March 10, 2023 after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, James J. Berthelette.
 
        She was a proud mother and grandmother and is survived by her two children, Christopher J. Berthelette and his wife Carissa of Grafton, and Alyssa M. Berthelette of Uxbridge; one granddaughter, Maia R. Berthelette; twelve siblings, Francis A. “Butch” Lavalley and his wife Linda of Lutz, FL, Alice “Pat” Pitman of Grafton, Linda M. Winchell and her husband Alfred of Douglas, Steven G. Lavalley and his wife Donna of New Port Richie, FL, Becky  A. Vaundell and her husband David of Sutton, Diana Day and her husband Phillip of Millbury, David P. Lavalley and his wife Cathi of Monroeville, OH, Dennis W. Lavelley and his wife Theresa of Thompson, CT, Richard J. Linnell of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Terry Lavalley and his wife MaryJo of Sunset Beach, NC, Debby Valavicius and her husband Vyto of Malibu, CA, and Sandy Harem and her husband Steve of Loveland, CO; as well as many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ernest “Smokey” Lavalley.
 
        Born in Northbridge, MA on March 2, 1958 she was the daughter of Cecile (Noel) and Richard “Shorty” Linnell and grew up in Sutton and Northbridge, where she graduated high school in 1976. The past 31 years she has been a resident of Uxbridge, MA.
 
        Denise worked as a bartender at many local businesses over the years including Brian’s Restaurant, Blissful Meadows, Cock n’ Kettle, the Oyster Cabin, and Milly Mitchell’s. She was a talented florist and was employed with Mendon Greenhouse, and most currently was an office manager for D&S Landscaping. Over the years she was involved with foster care and was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church where she participated in their Faith Formation and Neighbor to Neighbor Ministries. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her Christmas cookie trays. She was a talented crafter, and spent countless hours painting and working with stained glass. 

 

        Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brigham and Women’s Hospital for their care. 
 

        Denise’s Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Her memorial calling hours will be held on Monday, March 20th from 4-7 PM in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Mary’s Parish, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge, MA 01569.
