Sutton- David A.. Langlais, 75, of Central Turnpike, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at UMass Memorial Medical Center after a period of declining health,  surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Annemarie (Glode) McNeil; his children, Annie Battersby and her husband Scot of Putnam, CT, and their children Faye, Mary, and Ryan; 4 step-children, Briana McNeil of Manchester, NH, and her daughter Makayla Williams of Sutton who David raised as his own, Melissa McNeil and her partner Tim Duval of Dudley, their children Ryder, Cadence and Addy, Benjamin McNeil and his wife Sabrina of Ludlow, their children, Charlie and Teddy, and Joseph McNeil of Auburn; his former wife, Ruth Langlais Hutchinson and her husband Mark, of Brooklyn, CT; siblings, Herve N. “Nooney” Langlais Jr. and his partner Sue Spencer of North Port, FL, Rachel A. Demers and her husband Larry of Merrimack, NH, Suzanne E. Benedetto and her husband John of Northborough, Madeleine C. Mak and her partner Steve Stone of Worcester, Maria A. Thomas and her partner Rick Roberts of Whitinsville, Thomas C. Langlais and his wife Nancy of Chelmsford, and many nephews and nieces with whom he was close to and greatly loved. He also leaves many great friends, and “special neighbors”.

Born in Woonsocket, RI on October 29, 1949, he was the son of Herve N. “Babe” Sr. and Cecile A. (Brodeur) Langlais and grew up in Northbridge. He was a 1967 graduate of Northbridge High School, and furthered his education earning an Associate’s degree from Quinsigamond Community College. He worked many years as an Engineering Analyst and most recently for QinetiQ out of Waltham.

He was a good man. He was kind, generous, gentle and quiet. He loved good food and took pleasure in presenting food as works of art. He will be remembered for his famous sandwiches, chicken soup, Tourtiere pies and homemade pizzas to name a few. He had a talent for decorating with color and his homes were full of beautiful items. After his retirement in 2020, he became a beekeeper and the honey produced was a staple in his everyday use. He loved gardening and tending to his flower beds, which gave him peace and joy.

What he loved most was his family. Growing up in a large, close-knit French Canadian family and being a middle child with four sisters and two brothers he always had "guidance". He had fond memories of his childhood that was filled with great love. But his pride and joy were his children and grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He will be forever remembered for his steady, charitable nature. He enjoyed giving back and donated platelets every two weeks, over a span of 15 years at the Worcester Red Cross. We miss him so much already but the daily visits from bright red cardinals confirm his presence in God's loving embrace.

His memorial funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of his family, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory can be made to NAC Food Pantry, 20 Highland St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
