Uxbridge-David L. Drummond, 69, of 32 E. Hartford Ave. died Tues. June 26 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Deborah K. (Layne) Drummond; 2 sons Joshua A. Drummond of Dudley and Seth C. Drummond of Holly Springs, NC; 5 grandchildren Sean, Jarod, Codey, Emma, and Liam; and several nephews, nieces and many good friends and co-workers. He was predeceased by a sister Sharon Vaughn. Born in Omaha, NE on Oct. 29, 1942 he was son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Guilliam) Drummond and lived in Uxbridge the past 30 years.
David worked as a steel erector, foreman and supervisor for Auciello Iron Works in Hudson, MA for almost 43 years. He also performed estimations and mechanical drawings towards the end of his career and during his illness. He was a member of Boston Iron Workers Local 7 and a U.S. Army Vietnam Era veteran, serving in Germany.
A family oriented man David, coached little league baseball in Uxbridge several years. He stayed active designing and working on his house, playing the guitar, keyboard, and flute. He also enjoyed photography and spent time travelling across the country in his RV with his wife.
His family wishes to thank the Auciello family , the VNA Hospital of Greater Milford and Dana Farber of Boston for their loving care and support. Also a special thanks to Dr. Paul Marcoux and his Fellow doctors at Dana Farber in Boston and the nurses of Yawkey 10 for their exceptional care.
His funeral service will be held on Tues. July 3 at 11:30 a.m. in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge. A calling hour at the funeral home will be Tues. July 3 from 10:30 – 11:30. Burial will follow in MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in David’s memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
