Constance Dukes Obituary

Constance C. “Connie” (Remillard) Dukes, 85, formerly of Uxbridge, Whitinsville, and Linwood died Wed. May 28 surrounded by her loving family.  She leaves 3 daughters, Christine Kanemitsu and her husband Robert of Hilo, HI, Karen Pettinelli and her husband David of Southbridge, and Kathy Leveille and her husband Paul of Grafton; 7 grandchildren, Michael Kanemitsu, Matthew Kanemitsu, David Leveille, Sarah Leveille, Julia (Leveille) Porter and her husband Stephen, Kyle Pettinelli, and Derek Pattinelli.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Sister Roberta (Vivian) Remillard Sisters of Columbia, and Blanche Rothe; 2 brothers, James Remillard and his wife Patricia, and Lanny Remillard and his wife Joan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Harry, Phileas, Norman, Raymond, and George.

Born in Linwood, MA on Dec. 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Phileas and Julia (White) Remillard.  She graduated from Northbridge High School Class of 1946.  She then furthered her education in Holyoke at Providence Nursing School.  Her ambition since she was 5 years old was always to become a Registered Nurse.  She retired from St. Vincent Hospital in 1994, where she was an RN and worked on 6 West, same day surgery, and then the Recovery Room.  She then worked the next 10 years for the Surgical Center of Worcester.  Her other enjoyments were quilting, sewing, painting, traveling, and her family.  She was a member of the Thimble Pleasures quilt guild in Mendon, MA, the Schoolhouse Quilters in Shrewsbury, and Fabric Impressions in Hilo, HI.  Her family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Place of Westborough, Beaumont of Northborough along with Salmon Hospice Care for all of the care, comfort, and compassion given to Connie.

     Her funeral will be held Mon. June 2, 2014 from Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sun. June 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Mon.
