UXBRIDGE - Claudia "Nonna" (Caravaggio) DiBattista, 76, of 45 Giacamo Way died Sun., May 5, 2013 at Milford Hospital after an illness. Her husband of 48 years Angelo DiBattista died on Dec. 21, 2006.
She is survived by a son, Peter D. DiBattista and his wife Amy Lynn of Uxbridge with whom she lived; a daughter, Anna M. Sacoto of Woonsocket, RI; 4 grandchildren, Cesar, Monica, Domenic, and Olivia; a brother, Joseph Caravaggio of Toronto; 2 sisters, Rosinella DiCampli and Giovannina DeFidelebus, both of Italy; and several nephews and nieces.
Born in Rocca SanGiovanni, Italy on June 21, 1936, she was the daughter of Camillo and Concetta (DiCarlo) Caravaggio and emigrated to the U.S. in 1965, settling in N. Quincy. She lived in Uxbridge the past 8 years. Mrs. DiBattista owned and operated with her husband, Mr. Di's Clothing & Tailoring in Quincy over 25 years. Since her retirement she enjoyed cooking for her family as well as the neighborhood children. She also liked to watch movies with her grandchildren. Claudia was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Her funeral will be held from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd, Uxbridge on Wed. May 8 with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tue. May 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Claudia's memory may be made to the Uxbridge Elderly Connection, P.O. Box 215, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
