Sutton- Carolyn R.H “Mrs. A” (Hansen) Amaral, 90, formerly of Worcester and Douglas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab. Her husband Robert J. Amaral Sr. died in 1986, and her second husband Paul Naez died in 2021.
She is survived by her son Robert J. Amaral Jr. and his wife Amy of Sutton; 3 grandchildren, Robert J. “Buddy” Amaral III and his wife Melissa of Sutton, Erik D. Amaral and his wife Colleen of Bolton, and Abigail J. Amaral of Southbridge; 3 great-grandchildren Ryan, Cole, and Elise as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Gregory Amaral on June 27, 2007, and was sister of the late John H. Hansen, Henry “Red” Hansen, and Dorothy Opacki.
Born in Worcester on August 16, 1935, she was the daughter of Henry and Elsa (Johnson) Hansen and was raised in Worcester. She was educated in the Worcester Public School system and moved to Sutton in 1966. She was a resident of Blackstone Valley Rehab. for the past 5 years. Mrs. A owned and operated Carol-lyn’s Dance Studio on Church St. in Whitinsville for 50 years. There, she taught generations a variety of classes and built confidence and artistic expression in children.
A member of the VFW Uxbridge Women’s Auxiliary, she was also active with the Sutton Senior Center. She belonged to the Congregational Church of Sutton.
In accordance with her wishes, there are no public services planned. Private burial will be held in All Faith’s, Swedish Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Toys for Kids and Teens, C/o Bill Audette, 78 East St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
