Carl M. "Rusty" Burgess

Carl M. “Rusty” Burgess, age 52, of Plymouth, MA, passed away on September 7, 2024 at his home.

         He is survived by his son Taylor Ryen; his daughter, Caitlyn Anne and her husband Kristian Meyer; his grandson, Kayce Ryen; his mother, Anne M. (Whiting) Burgess of Douglas; brothers, David A. Burgess and his wife Nancy Lea of Belleview, Florida, Richard W. Burgess and his wife Carolyn N. of Chelmsford, MA, Robert C. Burgess and his wife Tina of Belleview, FL; his sister-in-law, Kristin Buck and her husband Brian Smith of Martha’s Vineyard, 13 nieces and nephews, and 12 great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Alfred L. Burgess and brother Christopher J. Burgess. Born in Worcester, MA on September 24, 1971, he attended primary school in Douglas and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1989.

         Professionally, he worked in the construction trade for various New England contractors and was a highly skilled heavy equipment operator working on commercial real estate projects, city playgrounds, and MBTA rail projects.

         Rusty was an incredibly smart, fun loving, quick-witted, big-hearted person who loved his family and friends immensely. He loved ocean fishing and his favorite spots were on all on Cape Cod.

         His funeral Mass will be held in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas MA on September 28th at 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held on site directly following the Mass.
