Whitinsville- Bruce D. Holmes Sr., 71, of Colonial Dr., passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Care One in Millbury after a period of declining health
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret A. (Klebart) Holmes; 3 children, Bruce D. Holmes Jr. of Douglas, Jason A. Holmes of Linwood, and Don L. Holmes and his wife Desiree of Whitinsville; 5 grandchildren, Hayden, Kaiden, Katara, Kayson, and Dawn; 2 sisters, Betty Adams of East Corinth, Maine and Melissa Drury of Woonsocket, RI, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Uxbridge on September 15, 1954, Mr. Holmes was the son of the late Harland E. and Marilyn M. (McFarland) Holmes. He grew up and was educated in the Uxbridge Public School system. A hard worker, he was employed for many years in maintenance for the town of Northbridge and for the Best Western Hotel in Marlborough. He liked to be busy and could fix most anything. Previously, he worked for N. Uxbridge Gas and for Walmart in Whitinsville. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in the Whitinsville barracks for several years as a mechanic.
Bruce enjoyed both fresh and saltwater fishing, taking day trips to the Cape Cod Canal, and being outdoors in the nice weather. He loved his family, and especially his grandchildren. He had a great personality, was outgoing, and enjoyed joking around. A selfless man, he would go out of his way for those he loved and never wanted his children to struggle.
In accordance with his wishes, Bruce will be cremated, and his family will celebrate his life privately.
