Whitinsville- Bernard T. “Bernie” Cournoyer, 94, of Plummer Park, passed away at home on Thursday, April 2, 2026, after a period of declining health.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria M. (Rajotte) Cournoyer; two daughters, Karen A. Cournoyer of Whitinsville and Karleen J. Cournoyer of Whitinsville; several special nephews and nieces. He also leaves many longtime friends and coworkers. He was the brother of the late Raymond Cournoyer. Born in Northbridge on June 13, 1931, he was the son of Dennis and Lucienne (Gervais) Cournoyer and lived here most of his life.
A hard worker, Bernie was employed as a Truck Driver for Nydam Landscaping Co. in Uxbridge for many years. Previously he drove a concrete mixer for Dauphinais Concrete, Inc., delivering concrete to the Blackstone Valley and throughout Worcester County. He was educated in the Northbridge school system and briefly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Bernie was outgoing and friendly. He always had a story to tell and was well known in the area.
As to his wishes, Mr. Cournoyer will be cremated and buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. There will be no services. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Northbridge Ambulance Fund, 1681 Providence Rd., Northbridge, MA 01534.
