Barbara A (Jolly) Wilga Heney

Worcester- Barbara A. (Jolly) Wilga Heney, 59, of Massasoit Rd., passed away Wed. Dec 28, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer. 

         She is survived by her 2 daughters, Stephanie L. Wilga and her partner Mark Gjeltema of Northbridge and Nicole M. Macero and her husband Sam of Worcester; her mother Marie P. Jolly of Sutton; 3 grandchildren, Cameron, Maddison, and Connor; her former husband and best friend James Wilga of Sutton; 3 sisters, Sharon Duquette and her husband Henry of Millbury, Linda Hicks and her husband William of Sutton, and Kate McLaughlin and her husband David of Putnam CT; her best friend Deb Smith of Holden, Her uncle Robert Cronan and his wife Wendy of Millbury, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Michael Wilga, her father, Barry Astukewicz, and maternal grandparents Robert and Margaret Cronan.

         Born in Worcester on September 28, 1963 Barbara was educated from Sutton Public Schools and received her licensed practical nursing degree from Assabet Technical High School. She worked as an LPN for UMass University Medical Center for several years, previously she was an EMT for 20 years. She had been a resident of Worcester the past 20 years. She enjoyed visiting the beach, gardening, crafting, and taking care of her home and decorating. She loved her children and grandchildren and most of all enjoyed their company. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend and will be missed by all who loved and knew her. 

         Her memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville from 3-5 PM with a service to follow at 5 PM.
