Douglas- Allayne P. (Roussel) Schiavone, age 76, of B Street, a longtime resident of town, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at Milford Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. Her husband of 50 years Paul J. “Tubby” Schiavone was by her side.
She is also survived by a sister, a brother, several cousins, and neighbors. Born in Worcester, on January 30, 1950, Allayne was daughter of the late Henry B. and Olga M. (Bylund) Roussel, and was raised in North Oxford. She had been a resident of Douglas 37 years.
Mrs. Schiavone was employed for 44 years as a Supervising Underwriter for the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in their Worcester, Dudley, Mendon, and Westborough offices. She retired in 2013. While at her job she earned insurance legacy standard designations AIAA (Associate, Insurance Agency Administrator and ACS (Associate, Customer Service). She was a graduate of Oxford High School, Class of 1968.
A tough, but loving woman, Allayne was a master fishing instructor with her husband Tubby who started a youth program in the 1990’s as part of the Mass Fisheries and Wildlife’s Aquatic Resources Education Program. There, they taught fishing, ice fishing, and environmental issues to over 4,000 kids. An avid reader, Allayne loved history, camping, visiting Nova Scotia to see the Bay of Fundy, and going to see relatives in Vermont and New Hampshire. She and Tubby also traveled often to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and loved searching for fossils and rock hounding.
Allayne will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful woman who will be missed by everyone who’s lives she touched.
