Uxbridge- Alice M. (Beane) Gillis, 75, formerly of Mendon St., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Lydia Taft House after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Her devoted family was by her side.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Megan Noyes and her husband William of Uxbridge, Sarah Gillis of Arvada, CO, and Laura Lacey and her husband Nicholas of Edgartown, MA; 3 grandchildren, Evan Newhall of Portland, ME, Gianna Noyes and Nathan Noyes both of Uxbridge; 7 siblings, Constance Wiersma and her husband Cornelius of Uxbridge, Eileen Gresian and her husband Joseph of Sutton, Mary Jane Corral and her husband Michael of Wareham, William Beane and his wife Barbara of Northbridge, Peter Beane of Bradenton, FL, Patricia Ordway of Uxbridge, and Karen Beane also of Uxbridge; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Marie Constance Beane.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on June 17, 1950, she was the daughter of William and Constance (Langelier) Beane and lived in Uxbridge most of her life, spending 12 years in Boulder, CO. A 1968 graduate of Uxbridge High School, she earned her Nursing Degree from Frontrange Community College. Alice enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse, working at the former Beaumont Nursing home and Lydia Taft House for 30 years. She retired in 2015.
Alice enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, spending most Saturdays with her sisters, playing cards, and dining out. Her family meant the world to her and she was happy to host most holidays in her home. She loved spending time with her grandkids, nature, and hiking the mountains. In summer, she vacationed on the Cape, enjoying the beach, and swimming, and wintered in Clearwater, FL with Laura.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Thurs., Nov. 20th at 11 AM in St. Mary Parish, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Weds. Nov. 19thfrom 4-7 PM.
