My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Lutton - I am so sorry for your loss. One of my all time favorite memories is participating in a puppet show with my friends that he helped us put on. He was always so welcoming and kind to me as I know he was to everyone in the community

My deepest sympathy to Dr, Lutton's family and friends. I only knew him for a short time, as he hired me to work at the  Holliston Senior Center, about 3 months before his retirement 15 years ago. I remember him as being a kind and generous man, with a wonderful sense of humor.  I am sure he will be missed by all who's lives he touched.

My condolences to the Jan and the Lutton family. Chuck left an amazing legacy in all of us that had the pleasure of knowing him. Dr. Lutton hired me right out of Nurse Practitioner school to work with him at New England Electric. He was my most valued mentor in occupational health with his book smarts combined with great compassion for the workers and their health and safety. He was not just a thorough and intellectual physician but a leader with great strength and business acumen. He researched issues thoroughly and presented then in an understandable way. He was highly respected by his colleagues, upper management, by his patients, the unions, and his employees. I worked at his side for over 16 years and found him to be a man of the highest integrity.

He taught me so much about clinical assessment, OSHA medical surveillance, working with unions, DOT physicals, and so much more. He mentored me on public speaking and took me under his wing to co-speak with him at several national occupational health conferences on one of the topics he was firm on: Confidentiality of medical records.

Favorite memories include travelling to Nantucket Electric via the ferry in a hurricane! Walking on the open view grated floors 6 stories up inside Brayton Point coal plant. He was a preceptor for so many MD residents who later went on to successful occupational health practices. My biggest lessons from Chuck were these two things. One: It is okay to say "I don't know" and then go research. Two: Treat patients as "a whole." Chuck had a philosophy of looking at the whole picture, not just a person's cardiac issue, or ankle problem but the big, inclusive picture of all their health issues, the impact on their work, family, finances, and mental health.

I will continue to honor Chuck as I make sound decisions in occupational health. I often think in difficult situations, "what would Dr. Lutton do?"
Rest easy, my friend. You have had a full and amazing life. You have saved lives, mentored many, and your legacy will live on in your family and in all of us who had the pleasure of knowing and working with you.

Dr. Lutton was a true educator and a healer. I was blessed to be able to serve on the HCSB with him!
