I remember with great fondness a kind and ever doting father in Wayne. For a boy growing up with his son, Wayne, Douglas took on an adventurous allure thanks to the O'Day family. Though a couple of young lads left to their own devices had no shortage of mischievous meanderings, father Wayne was most often at least watching in the background, if not fully engaging us and indeed leading the entire effort, be it throttling the boat that pulled us all on skis and boards and tubes over the Res; cajoling us to brave the brutal cold and winds to again careen in a boat at great speed, this time over the frozen water; or grinning knowingly over the brood of kids leaping off the dock into the warm Res during those idyllic childhood summers. Though I have not seen father Wayne in years, his example, his quiet enthusiasm for family, his devotion to others far beyond his own family are elements I cherish to this day from this grandly modest man. And how fortunate he was, and all the more possible it all was with Sally.
While good memories flood, I am incredibly sad with son Wayne, Jen & Sally. How can one ever be ready for such a loss? I hug you all from far away, though never far in thought from those many days on the Res.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Wayne. The Res won't seem the same without seeing him go by on his party boat with his family waving to us all.
