I did not have her in school, but knew her through Shaws.. She was always coming in talking about her late husband, and her cats.. She welcomed every new manager to shaws, often with some sage advice on how they should treat the employees.. She was a kind soul, with a big heart and she will be missed by all.. Rest in peace my friend. You are now in the arms of your love.

Mrs. Laba was my Grade 5 teacher in the 1977-1978 school year. What great memories I have! May she rest in peace.

I was so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing. My first encounter with her was in the Balmer school system, she started teaching along side with Mr. Robbins.
In the years to follow I learned she got married to Richie and ironically lived across from me on Providence Road.
I moved back to town to care for my mother, consequently moving my hair salon to the old homestead. It wasn’t to long before I got more friendly with her and Richie. Eventually she even started having her hair done. It was through the visits for haircuts that we really bonded more and more.
When Richie passed I tried to help her along with life ( her new normal) as best i could. She enjoyed going to the movies, rides to get ice cream, eating out and many more excursions.
Keeping in touch over the years with greeting cards, I always wanted to go visit her but life always got in the way. Of course then the pandemic evolved and life as we all knew it stopped.
I will always cherish her friendship and will be forever grateful for knowing her.
Rest In Peace with your beloved Richie, your finally home in heaven where you can now be content. May God bless you and Richie for all eternity, your friend Doug.

I graduated with Margarate in the class of 1965. She was a great person and very caring lady. I saw her at Shaw's just a few days before she passed away. Prayers and thoughts go out to the family at this time.
