Uxbridge- Winfield E. “Win” Coles, 93, of Centennial Court passed away peacefully on Tues. July 16, 2019 at St. Camillus Nursing Home.

     He is survived by his wife of 68 years Jane E. (Mack) Coles; his son Winfield P. “Pat” Coles and his wife Susan of Bellows Falls, VT; his daughter Kelly L. Shaughnessy and her husband Ronald Gray of Uxbridge; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Karen Fennessey in 2007, and a son in law, James “Mike” Fennessey in 2006. Born in Claremont, NH on Nov. 22, 1925 Win was one of 10 children born to John and Dora (Prue) Coles and lived at Centennial Ct. the past 17 years. Previously he lived in Vermont.

     Mr. Coles worked as a Dispatcher for St. Johnsbury Trucking in Bellows Falls VT many years until his retirement. Previously he worked as a roofer and a Supermarket Store Manager. Enlisting at the age of 17, he was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran serving aboard a LCI Landing Craft and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was a member and Past Commander of the Bellows Falls American Legion Post 37.

     Win and his wife Jane travelled for 20 years in their motorhome and usually spent winters in Florida. Always a kind, social man, he enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, dancing, good-natured flirting, and joking around. Family was most important to him however, and he loved spending time with them.

     His Memorial Funeral Mass will be held Sat. July 27 at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Uxbridge. Cremation burial in Vermont will be at a future date. There are no calling hours.
