Worcester - Ernest J. Roy Jr., 86, formerly of Pilgrim Avenue died Sun. Oct. 28, 2018 after an illness at the Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, where he had been a resident the past 3 years.

     He is survived by his 4 children: Michelle Roy Haley of Mansfield, MA, Michael E. Roy and his wife Carol of Hendersonville, TN, Jeannine M. Roy of North Andover, and Paul G. Roy and his wife Karen of Shrewsbury; 8 grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah Roy and husband J.D. Shadburne, Nicholas, Kyle, Jesse, Zachary, Garrett, and Katrina; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Rhea (Lacombe) Roy presently of Attleboro, MA. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria St. Martin. Born in Worcester, on Jan. 3, 1932 Ernest was the son of Ernest J. Roy, Sr. (former City of Worcester Tax Collector) and Marie-Ange (Robitaille) Roy and lived in Worcester many years.  

     Mr. Roy worked as a waiter for many years at Locke-Ober restaurant in Boston, and in his later years, was a driver for Worcester Airport Limousine. He was a graduate of North High School in Worcester, and served in the U.S. Army as a Private 1st Class during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud member and Vice Commander of the VFW Post #3329 in Millbury. Ernest was an avid sports fan and loved watching football, hockey, and basketball. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and doing crossword puzzles. His other hobbies included current events, reading, and most of all spending time with his family.

     His memorial funeral service will be held on Thurs. Nov. 1st at 11:30 am in the Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held from 10 - 11:30 am. A private burial will be held at a later date.
