Whitinsville - Rachel (Blouin) Bourdon, 89, passed away on Wed. Aug. 22,
2018 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge, following a long struggle with dementia and declining health. Her husband of 31 years, Paul E. Bourdon, passed away in 1983.
She is survived by her daughters, Chrycinda A. Bourdon of Minneapolis, MN,
and Paula E. Warner of Whitinsville, MA, and their families; her brother,
Robert  E.M. Blouin and wife Georgianna of Vienna, VA; a sister, Doris Bouvier of
Whitinsville; and many nieces and nephews. Rachel was predeceased by 3 brothers, Vice Admiral Francis J. “Champ” Blouin, Clarence “Pent” Blouin, and Raymond Blouin.
Born in Whitinsville on Dec. 1, 1928, Rachel was the daughter of Lucien R. and Agnes (Cournoyer) Blouin. She grew up in Whitinsville and lived there for many years. She attended Northbridge High School, receiving the Gold Medal Scholar award  upon her graduation in 1946, then continued her education at UMass Amherst, graduating with honors and a B.A. degree in 1950. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, and president of her chapter of that sorority in her senior year.
After graduation, she taught school Ashfield, MA, until her marriage in 1952. Rachel and Paul relocated to Warwick, RI in 1960, where she was a homemaker for many years. Beginning in 1981, she was employed by the former Cherry Semiconductor Company in East Greenwich, RI, as an electrical test inspector, and learned to use computers and microscopes to evaluate tiny
silicone chip devices. Following retirement in 1994, Rachel enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles,
and had great interest in dollhouses and their furnishings. She was also an avid reader, and passed her love of books on to her children. As a resident of Whitney Place in Northbridge, she took particular pleasure in oil painting classes, quilt-making, and some knitting, until health issues necessitated her move to Beaumont in 2012.
Her burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville was privately held by her family.
A Mass in her memory will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11am, in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton St., Worcester.  A collation will follow the Mass, in the Monsignor Ducharme Center, located behind the church. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rachel’s memory may be made to: Salmon VNA & Hospice, 37 Birch St., Milford MA 01757.

Nothing can prepare us for loss. Gods word the Bible gives us comfort, it provides hope. “There is going to be a resurrection.” (Acts 24:15) God will restore life to those who have died, and they will have the prospect of living forever in paradise on earth. This is a promise from God, which we can have confidence in because he “cannot lie.” (Titus 1:2) May this hope comfort your greiving hearts. I am sorry for your loss.
