Uxbridge- Winnifred (Gallagher) Tracy, 93, passed away peacefully on Sun. May 6, 2018 at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Richard L. Tracy in 1970.

     She is survived by her daughter Patricia Walton and her son-in-law William, with whom she lived the past 37 years in Uxbridge, Barrington, IL and Harwich Port. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Joanne Sheppard and her husband Paul, Michael Tracy, William “Chip” Walton and his wife Katherine, and Meredith Walton; two great granddaughters Kathleen Sheppard and Danielle Walton; a sister Gail Tullao; her daughter-in-law Maureen Tracy; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sons Thomas James Tracy and an infant son John Michael Tracy.
     Born and raised in Cleveland, OH on August 10, 1924 Win was the daughter of James and Annabel (Grant) Gallagher. After High School she attended Fenn College as an extremely talented Art major. Win enlisted and served in the US Navy WAVES during WWII as a member of the military code-breaking unit in Washington, D.C. and was also stationed in Brazil. It was during the war that she met the love of her life who also served in the Navy. After the war, Win and Dick married and moved to Uxbridge in 1948 where they raised their family. Mrs. Tracy taught Art at St. Mary’s High School in Milford, and at St. Mary’s Grammar School in Uxbridge. She also worked as an administrative assistant at St. Patrick’s Rectory in Whitinsville up until her retirement in 1980. She loved oil painting, and made many beautiful paintings that her family will forever cherish. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking. Above all, Win loved her family and was an amazing homemaker, mother and “Nana.” She will be sorely missed by her family.
     Win’s funeral will be held on Wed. May 9 at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. To leave a condolence message for the family please visit: www.JackmanFuneralHomes.com

My deepest sympathy to Win’s family, she will be very missed. She seemed forever young and cheerful to me, and I know she was much loved by my mother, Alice.
