Ludlow- John Pelczar, 89, died Saturday, February 24, at Bay State Medical Center, surrounded by his children. He was predeceased in 2012 by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Arlene (Rybak) Pelczar.  

He leaves his children, Debra and husband Ron Sciascia of Spencer; Susan and husband Art Stamatien of Oakdale, CT; Nancy and husband Tony DeCaro of Ludlow; his brother, Stanley Pelczar of Webster; grandchildren, Kristen and husband Wellington Luiz; Joseph DeCaro; Sherilyn and husband Mark DiMeco; Alissa DeCaro and Ed Belben; Alex Stamatien; great-grandchildren, Aubrey DeCaro; Lily and Joseph DiMeco; Matteo and Shalysse Luiz; and caregivers Malgorzata Pasieka and family.

Born in Poland in 1928, he was the son of Joseph and Anelia (Tomkiewicz) Pelczar and was raised and spent his childhood years in Uxbridge, MA. He was a die-sinker after graduating from Boys Trade in Worcester.  He owned and operated J & S Tool & Die for over 30 years. Mr. Pelczar was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II Era and served aboard the Little Rock and Wilkes Barre. He was a former member of the International Association of Die Sinkers, Ludlow Chamber of Commerce and Ludlow Elks Lodge 2448. As a devoted husband and father, his greatest joy was his family. Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed golf, bowling, painting, gardening, fishing and listening to his polka music.

John's Funeral Mass will be held on Wed. Feb. 28 at 11am in St. Mary's Church, 77 Mendon St. Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Wed. Feb. 28 prior to Mass from 9-10:30 am in Tancrell- Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge. In lieu flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue., Waltham MA, 02451, or Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston MA, 02114.
