Linwood – Ernest “Cy” J. Laporte, Sr., 83, previously of Lake St. passed away at Milford Hospital on Mon. March 13, 2017.
      He is survived by his 4 children Ernest J. Laporte, Jr. and his wife Linda of Northbridge, Marlene J. Saucier and her companion Pat Mawn of Uxbridge, Gerald A. Laporte of Uxbridge, and Cynthia A. Kuipers and her companion Shane Gould of Worcester; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother Roger Laporte of Linwood; 3 sisters Marie Anger and her husband Robert of Hartford, CT, Theresa Babineau and her husband James of Northbridge and Rita Brooks and her husband David of Upton, and several nieces and nephews.  Born in Uxbridge on July 3, 1933 he was the son of Emil and Mary A. (Gazaille) Laporte and lived in Linwood all of his life.  
     Cy served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked as a store manager for many of the local area supermarkets until retiring at age 60 to take care of his ailing mother.  He was a member of Good Shepherd Church.  Cy was an avid fan of all New England sports teams and could recite stats from any team.  He was a kind and gentle soul never raising his voice.  Family was very important to him, enjoying time spent with his children and grandchildren.  He was a very kind and gentle soul, and will be missed by all who knew him.
     His funeral service will be held on Fri. March 17 at 12:00 noon in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge.  There is no burial.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Fri.
