Uxbridge - John F. Thurber, 67, of E. Hartford Ave., passed away at Milford Hospital on Fri. April 8 after a brief illness.  His wife Doreen A. (Haynes) Thurber died in 1999.  He is survived by his 2 sons; John J. Thurber and his wife Carey of W. Yarmouth and Jason M. Thurber with whom he lived; 2 sisters Anez Chase of Douglas and Delia Bergeron of Coventry, RI; 1 granddaughter Isabella Thurber; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Born in Uxbridge, MA on Feb. 4, 1949 he was the son of the late James and Eva Rose (Ross) Roy and was raised in Uxbridge and attended the Uxbridge school system.  
     He worked as a machinist/extruder operator for Contran Co. in Whitinsville for over 20 years before his retirement. John was a great friend, welcoming, and down to earth type of man.  He was extremely giving of anyone in need and would "give the shirt off his back" to help.  He served as a PVT. in the U.S Army during the Vietnam Era.
     John's funeral service will be held on Wed. April 13 at 11 a.m. in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tues.
