Douglas-Lisa Joy Norkus, 38, passed away peacefully at home on Wed. Nov. 25 after being struck ill.  She is survived by her parents William J. and his wife Alita of Braintree and her mother Pamela J. (Thibeault) Norkus of Douglas; her brother Cpl. William Norkus, Jr. USMC of Braintree; her maternal grandfather Joseph Thibeault of Douglas; her best friend who was like a sister Andrea of Sanford, ME; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Ruth E. (Ela) Thibeault and her paternal grandparents Richard and Ann (Dyson) Norkus.  Born in Newport News, VA on Aug. 16, 1977 she lived in Uxbridge all her life and was a graduate of the Uxbridge High School, Class of 1995.  
     She was a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College and also attended WPI in Worcester for engineering and theater.  She worked at the Blackstone Valley Cinemas in guest services and was a nanny for sometime.  Lisa enjoyed making people happy and was very sensitive, giving, and loving.  She was a member of Pleasant St. Church in Whitinsville and attended their bible study group.  She was also a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.  She went to the nationals in roller-skating, which was one of her passions.
     Her funeral service will be held on Wed. Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas.  Burial will be announced at a later date.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tues. Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis TN  38105.  To leave a condolence message for the family, please visit
