Uxbridge-Marietta A. (Merolli) Carles, 87, formerly of 45 Centennial Ct. died Fri. April 4 at St. Camillus Health Center where she had been a resident since June.  She is predeceased by her husband Louis P. Carles who died on May 11, 1985.  She is survived by her companion Joseph Dimera; 3 sisters Frances M. Gniadek of Uxbridge, Viola Gifford and her husband John of Woodstock, CT, and Barbara Anderson and her husband Paul of N. Smithfield, RI; 1 brother Louis Merolli of Mendon, MA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by a brother Albert Merolli.  Born in Uxbridge on June 23, 1926 she was the daughter of Louis and Christina (Cimini) Merolli and lived in New York for a time before settling in in Uxbridge.    

Marietta worked as a hostess at the former Cocke n’ Kettle in Uxbridge for 25 years until her retirement.  Marietta was a very hard worker and enjoyed shopping.  She was very much a people person and loved children.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge.

Her funeral will be held Wed. April 9 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge with a Mass at 11 am in St Mary’s Church, 71 Mendon St. Uxbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wed. April 9 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Donations in Marietta’s memory may be made to St. Camillus Activity Fund, 447 Hill St. Whitinsville, MA  01588.  To leave a condolence message for the family, please visit www.jackmanfuneralhomes.com
