Maryann R. (Yacino) Gardner  

UXBRIDGE/DOUGLAS - Maryanne R. (Yacino) Gardner, 78, of 35 Centennial Ct. formerly of Gilboa Ct. in Douglas died Mon. March 19 at Milford Hospital after an illness. Her husband Harvey W. Gardner died March 11, 1985.

She is survived by her 4 children, Lori J. and her husband Alan Taylor of Whitinsville, James J. and his wife Maureen Gardner of Bellingham, Teri E. Desmarais of Warwick, RI, and Jodi E. and her husband Mark Robertson of Exeter, RI; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister Ann White of Whitinsville; and many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces whom she cherished. Born in Douglas on Sept. 24, 1933 she was the youngest of 12 children born to Dominic and Marietta (Fulone) Yacino and lived in Uxbridge the past 12 years, previously living in Douglas.

Mrs. Gardner worked for the Douglas Elementary School as a third grade teachers assistant for several years. She also worked for Nelmor Corp. in N. Uxbridge for many years, retiring when she was 65. She was a graduate of Douglas High School and Quinsigamond Community College. She served in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years in the early 1950's. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed an occasional trip to Foxwoods. She loved to read and always kept in contact with her friends and family whether in person or on the computer in her later years. She was a member of the Uxbridge Seniors and St. Denis Church.

Her funeral will be held Thurs. March 22 from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas with a Mass at 11 am. In St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home in Douglas are Wed. March 21 from 5-8 p.m. Donations in Maryanne's memory may be made to the People's First Food Pantry, P.O. Box 506, 19 Douglas St., Uxbridge, MA 01569.
