Uxbridge - John J. Ward, 90, of Uxbridge passed away at Care Dimensions Hospice House on Thursday, February 27, 2020 after an illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Glavin) Ward.

He is survived by 3 daughters; Denise Zacchilli and her husband Peter of Marlboro, Debbie Ward and her wife Robyn of Medford, and Kathleen Whittaker and her husband John of Uxbridge; 1 son John “Jack” Ward and his wife Doreen of Hudson; and his grandchildren, Ashley, Melissa, Matthew, Daniel and Catherine; and his great grandson Anthony, many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Gail Glavin of West Roxbury.
        Born in Brookline, MA on March 11, 1929 he was the son of William and Julia (Hayes) Ward and grew up there before moving to Marlboro with his wife to raise their family and retired in Vinalhaven, ME for 13 years. They then moved to Uxbridge 17 years ago.
        He was educated in the Brookline school system and was drafted into the Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He worked for Boston Edison for 37 years in Waltham as a lineman until his retirement. John enjoyed golfing, building model airplanes and boats, and being with family. He also enjoyed woodworking, sailing and spending time at the Uxbridge Senior Center. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church.
        John’s funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2020 from 5-8 PM in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge, MA. Burial will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Milford Regional Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital or the Uxbridge Senior Center. To leave a condolence message for his family please visit:
